The call for papers for the annual meeting of the Canadian Sociological Association has been posted here. A few more sessions should appear over the coming days. Unfortunately, all presenters must be members of the CSA by the time of the conference. I am organizing a session on “Social Theory and History,” which already has papers from NotOften (of The Yolk) on Badiou and a paper of mine on Locke, property and animals. We have two open slots in our session and would encourage readers of either blog to submit a proposal.
There are also interesting proposed sessions on the sociology of violence; aesthetics, politics and the senses; the economic crisis (of course!); the sociology of sociology; an open session on critical social theory; and the status of critical sociology in Canada (covering, I hope, some of the issues raised in discussions on this blog); and making the city (organized by another The Yolk contributor).
