More on my dissertation

Sometimes I feel what I’ve written is a load of terrible, superficial crap. Other times I feel that I’ve written something that will at least hold the attention of the less than ten people who will read the whole dissertation – and, better, that they might find something interesting or useful in it. I am happy to report that today I have the latter feeling. In fact, today I feel I have made an actual contribution – however minor – to the interepretation of Hobbes and the origins of modern biopolitics. If only I could accept that the chapter is done and move on to the next!

Have worked on Hobbes also – years ago! – but was just recently thinking how his technological anthropomorphism reflects the the tendency for creations to turn on their creators, frustrating, I think, Hobbes scientific ambitions. George Schulman has written some good stuff on this.
