I can’t believe the following two things: (1) that I would actually like something involving John Mayer and (2) that this song is a “bonus track” and not an actually part of Kanye West’s recent album, Graduation. To my ears, it is, by far, the stand-out track on the album. Unfortunately its language is not amenable to radio airplay. One way to think of “Bittersweet Poetry” is to imagine Bret and Jemaine of Flight of the Conchords fame standing at one end of a block and Kanye West standing at the other. They run as fast as possible at one another and collide creating something that should not exist, but you are glad it does.
So,

This might not be saying much for the rest of the album…
You mean you don’t care for the song!? My god! The horror. You, sir, have no taste.
If this is the standard, I’ll have to admit it – I have no taste..
Barret doesn’t care about black people. Muhfucka yo mama’s a bitch.
John Mayer has been flirting around with some cross-genre stuff for a while; if you like that song, check out Dave Matthews’ collaboration with NYC rap collective Jurassic 5 on “Feedback”.
Yes; hip-hop is music too! You just never get to hear the good stuff on the radio (but same goes for rock-n-roll anymore).
