I’ve often wondered what it meant to “Support the Troops.” I see lots of cars with yellow ribbon (in Canada!?) magnets that say “Support the Troops” (some even cleverly incorporate a camouflage theme) on their bumpers, but they never tell me how – beyond the obvious step of likewise adorning my car – I should go about supporting the troops. Thanks to this photo op of Foreign Affairs Minister Maxime Bernier taken during a whirlwind holiday weekend field trip to Afghanistan, I now know how I too can support the troops – with a giant box of “Joe Louis” snack cakes.
Next time I drive by the (ultra secret) JTF 2 base at Dwyer Hill Road and Richmond/Franktown Road just outside of Ottawa proper, I’ll make sure to drop off some delicious 94% hydrogonated oil snack cakes!

Well done. Those yellow ribbons are like pimples on an oily 15 year-old in Alberta. I’ve since relocated to Chicago and see less visible Troop Support here than I did in Edmonton.
