Not to be confused with "sometimes's suggestion" - just thought I'd make that clear. As usual I agree with sometimes nearly if not 100%.

You will find Nancy's "necrology" on the website of the French newspaper Liberation; I think it may already be available in English translation. -should any one of you girls and guys have Dutch : bij wijze van groet wil ik Nancy's salut in het Nederlands vertalen, wie daarbij helpen kan... laat niet me te contacteren.

I'll second it. I have great affection for Derrida and Levinas, but PLL more than stands on his own, and should be treated accordingly.

Let me be the first to say, that's an excellent request.

Sometimes citation is extremely tasteless.

could people refrain from posting the obligatory passages from Derrida and Levinas? Rather than mute repetition of the standard passages, how about a discussion of his work

That probably suggests they haven't read much, if any, of his work. And much as I think it's good that people who had not previously will now be encouraged to do so, surely one is not required to die to be read, or read with seriousness. And it's remarkable how little there is of L-L's that's accessible via the net, and what there is, isn't in English. A 2006 lecture of his, though in French (.ram).
